On Wednesday 22 April, AirTanker proudly operated a further repatriation charter on behalf of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from Freetown, Sierra Leone to London Stansted via Gran Canaria for a crew change.

Captained by AirTanker’s Head of Flight Operations, the flight arrived safely at Stansted in the early hours of Thursday morning, after collecting over 300 passengers from Freetown. Air Transport is a regular task for AirTanker and its crew, and this was a particularly memorable task to be involved with. All crew carried out necessary enhanced safety operations in order to further protect our passengers, staff and customer during this pandemic.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office are working closely with the UK airline industry to secure scheduled service capacity and look to arrange charter flights to repatriate tens of thousands of British nationals who are stranded overseas.

Director of Civil Business said “AirTanker is delighted to have once again supported the Foreign and Commonwealth Office with the repatriation of British Nationals and we are proud to be part of a group of UK airlines that are operating these charters.”

The flight operated on one of AirTanker’s non-core fleet, a civil registered A330-200 aircraft, by AirTanker pilots and cabin crew, flying in conjunction with Titan Airways under a Titan Airways flight number.

We hope to continue to support the government’s efforts over the coming weeks.
