We are pleased to announce that we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based aircraft developer AERALIS, the organisation behind the creation of a new class of transformative high-performance training and operational aircraft. This is a novel and exciting development which we are keen to support, and through this MoU we will further understand the concept and capabilities and offer our services in support of this innovative, transformational defence proposition.

AERALIS, the transformational British military jet developer, is developing a new aircraft, based on a modular system, that can deliver a range of configurations for different missions, achieved by using common fuselage and avionics while switching engines, wings and mission systems as required.

Recently, AERALIS’ was awarded a multi-million-pound digital engineering services contract by the UK Ministry of Defence. Together with AERALIS, we will assess upcoming contracts in military flying training and defence operational training and combat air support roles. We will also examine models with the transformational capability with a clear aim to enhance efficiency throughout the training pipeline to support future front-line combat air systems.

AERALIS have seen a successful year, having signed partnerships with several companies building towards the ultimate delivery of the aircraft, including Thales UK, Atkins, Siemens, Martin-Baker and Hamble Aerostructures. AERALIS also signed an MoU with Rolls-Royce to explore initial and future options to meet the company’s propulsion requirements, and opened its first facility, the AERALIS Enterprise Hub, in the Bristol Defence & Aerospace cluster earlier this year. AERALIS is currently in Phase Two of a three-year contract with the Royal Air Force’s Rapid Capabilities Office.

So why is AirTanker involved? We demonstrate flexible and responsive world leading aviation service provision and operate end-to-end maintenance, military and civil flying programmes, training, and major aircraft upgrades.

AirTanker Chief Executive Officer, said:

“We are excited to be collaborating with the AERALIS team on this transformative programme and bring our expertise of supporting and delivering complex military operating solutions into the project at this developmental stage.”

AERALIS’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, stated:

“AERALIS are delighted to have signed this Memorandum of Understanding with AirTanker, marking an important step in AERALIS going to market not only with a transformation aircraft system but also with a disruptive aircraft service offering. In the coming years this will have the potential to transform the operating economics of defence light jet aviation, releasing sorely needed capacity and capability for military customers across a number of domains.”
