On Sunday 1 May 2022, we operated our first flight of the summer season for Jet2.com, with G-VYGL departing Manchester, bound for Tenerife, as “Channex 917”, as we resume damp lease operations for Jet2.com. This is our first damp lease operation on behalf of Jet2.com since the start of the pandemic, over two years ago. It is fantastic to be operating for Jet2.com once again and marks a significant achievement of the return to our non-core damp lease operations.

To start the busy summer season ahead, AirTanker’s Flight Crew supported by nine Jet2.com Cabin Crew and two AirTanker Cabin Crew Trainers, operated the first flight from Manchester to Tenerife, carrying 305 passengers.

G-VYGM will join this operation and commence flying on 26 May 2022. Both aircraft will operate two rotations a day from Manchester to destinations including; Palma, Faro, Tenerife, Antalya and Dalaman, and will operate until the end of October 2022.

AirTanker Director of Sales, said:

“We are delighted to be back operating on behalf of Jet2.com with two aircraft for the summer season, and we look forward to delivering a high level of service to Jet2.com and their customers. It is great to have two aircraft placed on stable damp leases after a challenging two years in the commercial market, and we very much look forward to a successful summer ahead.”

This summer season lease operation is carried out under a damp lease agreement where AirTanker provide the aircraft (G-VYGL & G-VYGM) and maintenance. The aircraft are flown by AirTanker Pilots, supported by Jet2.com Cabin Crew. Our strong partnership with Jet2.com is testament to the values we share and to the successful service and flight operations we deliver.

Sustainability and Business Development Director at Jet2.com & Jet2holidays, said:

“Summer 22 is our biggest ever summer programme, demonstrating the huge demand that we continue to experience for our award-winning flights and holidays. The addition of AirTanker’s widebody Airbus A330 into our operation at Manchester Airport will help us increase capacity and meet this continued demand.

“The aircraft means we will continue delivering our VIP customer service, whilst providing even more choice for customers.”
