A learning environment
As a training organisation, AirTanker delivers an extensive training programme to the RAF and its civilian personnel to support the safe, efficient and reliable operation of Voyager, in addition to providing personal learning and development to its people.
With training and education a central part of what we do, we are committed to sharing our expertise in support of the wider community.
As part of our programme, AirTanker has committed to work in partnership with Carterton Community College to support school children in developing and building the core skills set that are the foundation of a career in engineering and aerospace.
We offer long term support to the college and five feeder primary schools in Carterton: St. John’s; St. Joseph’s; Edith Moorehouse; Carterton; and Gateway; through a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Leadership Programme.
Our aim is to help local children develop the skills needed to excel in employment in engineering and aerospace industries, supporting their transition through the school system and encouraging them to have an active, practical and creative interest in science, engineering, technology and maths.
As part of this programme we also work alongside teachers to support their understanding of the application of skills in the workplace.
Investing in the ‘next generation’ RAF
The Air Cadets offer children from age 13 to 21 a chance to experience the RAF and all it has to offer. It also supports learning and discipline. AirTanker supports this programme through its sponsorship of No. 2267 Squadron, RAF Brize Norton, funding equipment and supporting cadet training and events.
