AirTanker is delivering one of the world's most sophisticated support packages to the the RAF and can offer unparalleled expertise in A330 and MRTT training.

Sharing best practice in MRTT/A330 training

AirTanker has a responsibility to provide training to the RAF to support pilots, engineers and cabin crew, in addition to the training we provide to our own employees, as part of the Voyager service.

Part of this pioneering approach involves RAF Squadrons, Sponsored Reservists, embedded RAF personnel and civilians being trained together by role-type, sharing knowledge and blending best practice from civilian and military aviation.

A training partnership

AirTanker delivers this training alongside Thales Training and Simulation. Training is delivered at AirTanker’s state-of-the-art training facility at RAF Brize Norton. This houses classrooms, lecture theatres and simulators, including Part Task Trainers, Mission Systems Console and a full motion, Level D standard, A330-200 / A330 MRTT simulator.

Breadth and depth

AirTanker provides more than 250 training courses, with training split according to user-groups. For example, RAF pilots new to the aircraft can be taught by civilian instructors with over 20,000 hours of flying experience. This style of training ensures that industry is passing on in knowledge in order to safeguard the operation of the RAF’s aircraft.

Courses include A330-200 type rating; pilot and Mission Systems Operator air-to-air refuelling training; military and civilian cabin crew training; CAA engineering Part 66 (Basic Engineers Licence) and practical training under AirTanker’s Part 145 maintenance organisation approval; amongst others.
