AirTanker's Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme

Are you interested in Aviation and looking for a challenging opportunity within a dynamic engineering environment? Our Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme offers you the opportunity to join a unique Engineering team at AirTanker, supporting the Royal Air Force and commercial airlines.

The journey

Our scheme meets the criteria for the Apprenticeship Standard 'Aircraft Maintenance Fitter/Technician (Fixed and Rotary Wing)'. It offers an initial accredited two-year apprenticeship and an additional two-year development phase that will provide you with specialist hand skills, fault diagnosis capabilities and experience of maintenance practices associated with complex aircraft mechanical and avionics systems.

You will be working towards:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering
  • Level 3 Diploma in Aviation Maintenance
  • Level 3 Diploma On-Aircraft Maintenance Category A

Foundation and Development Phases

Initially, you will attend a regulatory approved 9 month residential foundation course provided by our training partner Resource Group, using their Aviation Technical Training facility, located at Cotswold Airport.

The remainder of your apprenticeship will be spent at your new home AirTanker, RAF Brize Norton, where you will participate in specialist Practical and On the Job Training, working shoulder to shoulder with Civilian and RAF engineers.

You will receive coaching from a number of engineering shift mentors, coupled with full support from the Technical Training Manager and Voyager Training Service team, who will guide you through your Apprenticeship.

Finally, on successful completion of your training, you may have the opportunity to apply for a Fleet Engineering role with AirTanker.
