About the Apprenticeship

The AirTanker Business Administrator Apprenticeship is a development role which will provide opportunities for an apprentice to experience the various Business Support functions in AirTanker, including;

  1.  Business Change
  2.  Commercial
  3. Communications
  4. Compliance
  5. Facilities
  6. Finance
  7. Human Resources
  8. Ground Operations
  9. Information Systems & Technologies
  10. Procurement
  11. Project Management

During the initial 18 months the apprentice will spend time in several of the functions listed above, experiencing broad exposure to Business Administration processes and procedures across AirTanker. In the final 12 months of the scheme apprentices will have the opportunity to specialise on one of these functions and gain more in depth on the job training and study towards a specific professional qualification.

Supporting Information

The AirTanker Business Administrator Apprenticeship is a 2 stage scheme intended to run for up to 30 months;

Stage 1 of the scheme meets the criteria for the level 3 Apprenticeship Standard 'Business Administrator' and will be delivered through a combination of:

  • Blended training methods including workshops, online resources and one-to-one coaching/mentoring
  • Trainer/Assessor visits on a regular basis to coach, mentor and prepare candidates for end point assessment
  • Regular work-based reviews to ensure progression and support
Upon completion of Stage 1 candidates will be awarded the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard. Successful completion of Stage 1 will allow candidates to apply to complete Stage 2. 

Stage 2 of the scheme will be work-based on the job training, specialising in one of the Business Support Functions included in Stage 1. Candidates will develop a more in-depth understanding of the processes and procedures of the chosen function and will have the opportunity to study towards a relevant qualification (e.g. APM for Project Management or SIPS for Procurement etc)
