Sponsored Reservist Status
AirTanker will be recruiting individuals for both Pilot and Engineering roles that will be required to hold Sponsored Reservist status.
What does it mean?
The Sponsored Reservist category was established by the Reserve Forces Act 1996 in order to allow civilians to take on specialist roles that may need to be carried out in an operational environment. Sponsored Reservists (SRs) are legally obliged to undertake regular military training* and may be called up as a member of the RAF Reserves to support military operations anywhere in the world.
What will I need to do?
As well as the potential to be deployed on operations, when working as a Sponsored Reservist you will be required to:
- wear military uniform
- be under military command
- be subject to the Service Discipline Act
- undertake additional duties (e.g. Guard)
Do I qualify?
In order to qualify for Sponsored Reservist status, you will need to meet specific entry criteria, which include the following:
- Between 18 and 55 years of age
- A UK Passport holder
- Resident in the UK for the last 5 consecutive years
- You must be medically and dentally fit (NB: there will be additional tests for pilots)
- You must be Security Clearable
Please note that you will be subject to a notice period of three calendar months to relinquish Sponsored Reservist status
