What we look for
Throughout the company, you’ll find customer focused employees who are results driven and truly passionate about their roles. We look for innovative people to join them, who are ready to use their first-class skills and experience to solve problems within AirTanker. Naturally safety conscious, our people enjoy team work and apply a motivational, hard working approach to every day.
The AirTanker Team
The AirTanker team working on the FSTA programme will include a combination of passionate and innovative people with a “can do” attitude from a range of backgrounds:
- AirTanker staff – civilian employees from military and civil aviation or the wider defence industry and those with Sponsored Reserve status
- RAF personnel – aircrew, engineers and others posted to the FSTA programme
- Sub-contractors – including staff seconded from our sub-contractors
The concept of mixed manning – where staff from these different groups work together to achieve a common goal – is a fundamental element of the FSTA programme. AirTanker is focusing efforts on developing the right working culture to achieve success in this area. By creating an effective partnering organisation, AirTanker will be able to get the best from both military and civil aviation in order to deliver a world class service based on service excellence and quality.
AirTanker Civilian Employees:
This is an unusual opportunity for civilians to be involved in delivering a service that will provide significant benefits for the Royal Air Force and the wider Armed Forces. Working alongside military personnel, and colleagues who hold Sponsored Reserve status, civilian employees will play a privileged role in support of military activities whilst working with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
AirTanker Sponsored Reservists:
The Sponsored Reservist category was introduced in 1996 with the aim of allowing civilians with specialist skills to work in an operational environment when needed. Sponsored Reservists are obliged legally to undertake specific military training as part of the comprehensive training programme provided by AirTanker. This role provides a unique opportunity for civilians to be able to ‘do their bit’ for a worthwhile programme.
