On Saturday 17 July, Geoff Winterbottom (Aircraft Integration Engineer) from AirTanker mentored a team of four enthusiastic students from Carterton Community College at Tri@RIAT Engineering Challenge for Schools 2010. Inspired by the latest Bloodhound Speed Challenge to be undertaken by Wg Cdr Andy Green, this year’s challenge was to design, build, test and demonstrate a model car powered by compressed air. It was a very close competition with only 10 points separating the eight teams in the end and Team AirTanker came a respectable fifth place. “It was a hard day’s work,” said Geoff, “but it was great fun and I was really impressed by the creativity and enthusiasm shown by the team.”
