AirTanker's principal shareholders – all world leading aerospace/defence contractors - are also its main suppliers and sub-contractors.
AirTanker Services is a dedicated service delivery company with shareholder manufacturers who are supplying the equipment needed and then providing through-life support to the end of the contract.
As shareholders and sub-contractors, they are highly incentivised to ensure service delivery and the arrangement provides a solid, stable, structure with which to meet the RAF’s needs until 2035.Responsibilities - and risks –are clearly delineated in contracts with AirTanker and/or AirTanker Services, which ensures complete, transparent accountability.

Tanker aircraft are being procured under a fixed price contract with the Military Transport Aircraft Division (MTDA) of EADS.
The conversion follows the similar A330-200 tanker programme for the Royal Australian Air Force, with the equipment needed supplied by the other principal stakeholders, who then provide through-life support to AirTanker.
MTAD has a strong track record in converting aircraft for special mission roles and will convert the first two aircraft in Getafé, Madrid, Spain with the remaining 12 aircraft being converted by FRA at Hurn airport in Dorset, UK.
The service aspects of the FSTA contract will be delivered by the dedicated AirTanker Services organisation, which will directly employ over 500 people at Brize Norton.
New infrastructure, including a two-bay hangar, training building, with a state-of-the-art flight simulator, and office accommodation at Brize Norton will provide world class facilities to enable AirTanker Services to provide flight operations, training, and maintenance support to the RAF.
