This usage and performance based service delivery contract is held with the Ministry of Defence’s DE&S (Defence Equipment & Support) branch. It will run until 2035 and is the world’s largest defence Private Finance Initiative (PFI).

The contract specifies very clear service / quality standards and secures the following for the RAF:-

• The RAF retains full operational control over the aircraft and their deployment, with military missions flown by RAF crews
• Highly capable, flexible and efficient new A330-200 aircraft converted to meet the RAF’s requirements
• Assured aircraft availability, reliability and security of supply from a strong partner
